Our Story

5A5 Steak Lounge is a modern take on your traditional steakhouse. Located in the heart of Financial District, blocks from the Embarcadero Piers, 5A5 Steak Lounge has been delighting our guests since since 2009.

The name 5A5 is derived from the five senses - Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch - a sensory experience when indulging in the highest grade A5 Japanese Wagyu.

We serve the best, top quality steaks from around the world – US Certified Angus Beef and Australian ‘Kobe’ and the grade A5 100% Japanese Wagyu – highest grade of beef in the world.

Our dome-shaped dining room is one of the distinct features of our steak house. For private events and celebrations, we boast semi-private dining spaces on our Mezzanine level overlooking the main dining room, and two private spaces for exclusive dining experiences. Our spacious lounge area and bar program creates the perfect experience for a fun happy hour or reception.

A5 Japanese Wagyu

5A5 Steak Lounge is known for its A5 graded Japanese wagyu, specifically from the Miyazaki prefecture. "A5" is a grade given to a Japanese cow, or wagyu, grading it on the yield and the quality of the marbling, color, brightness, texture, and firmness of the meat.

Each cut of steak we receive, comes with a grading of the beef, and detailed records on the cow itself. If you try the experience with 5A5, please make sure to ask for a souvenir for your own record of the steak you had.
